The Butcher drags the meat through the dirt. The flies started to gather, buzzing and landing on the skinless mass. The patrons await eagerly, asking the Butcher how they could help. Their wives all watch in pride. The children stare in amazement, shouting and chanting of glory.
The Butcher ties the meat up by the neck. Beaten, with shaking legs, seizing, gasping for air through the pain, "Please," they whimper.Â
The crowd cheers as their beast of burden is vanquished, minor were their crimes, this time only a glance for a moment too long, at all the wrong people. In a brutal display, each man takes a piece. Rifled with joy, the boys anxiously await their time to join.
